Ravensthorpe robbers may have carried a gun

ARMED robbers stole a mobile phone and a wallet after bursting into a Ravensthorpe home through an unlocked door.

Two men, one armed with a hammer, the other with a suspected handgun, struck on Queen Street at around 9.45pm on Wednesday.

Demands were made before they escaped with their haul. The victim was shocked but unhurt.

Police believe, as with the taser incident in Batley Carr, that it was a targeted attack.

One suspect is white, about 5ft 6ins tall and slim. He wore a hooded top and gloves and had a plastic mask or brown insulation tape across his face.

The other is also white, mid-to-late 20s, with blond hair. He is between 5ft 8in and 5ft 10ins tall and wore a grey and black hooded top. He had a tattoo on his right forearm which featured old English letters. Det Con Andy Clayton said: “We are treating this as a targeted attack. There is no suggestion of any wider risk to the community in Ravensthorpe.

“But any incident of this nature is taken extremely seriously.”

Anyone with information can call Det Con Clayton at the Kirklees Police Robbery Team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
