THE search is on to find former pupils of a Mirfield school for a new group that will help today’s youngsters.
Mirfield Free Grammar (MFG) has launched an alumni society in partnership with the Future First charity.
It not only offers a chance to keep in touch with developments at MFG, but allows old boys and girls to act as mentors to current pupils.
There are other ways to get involved, from offering careers guidance and work experience to becoming a donor or fundraiser.
MFG teacher Allison Simpson said: “A network like this, with all that valuable experience, will be vital in helping us to broaden pupils’ horizons.
“If they see someone who went to the same school has achieved a fulfilling and satisfying life, it helps them see it’s possible for them too.
“It’s important for all pupils to be motivated to succeed, and hearing first-hand from people in interesting jobs can make a huge difference.”
She added it does not matter when people left school, whether they are in work or further study, or even where they live.
