Pub fire walk aids kids' charity

A DARING fire walk across hot coals at a Birstall pub raised £3,737 for a children’s cancer charity.
Eighteen people, including licencee Dan Barker, went barefoot over 16 feet of charcoal that reached 1,700 degrees at The Scotland on Bradford Road.
They carried out the stunt in aid of the Little Heroes charity, which is raising funds to buy Christmas gifts for children in paediatric oncology units. The cash was presented to Little Heroes on Monday night.
Dan, who runs The Scotland with wife Angela, is organising another fundraiser for Little Heroes in which people will walk over broken glass.
It follows an event in June that brought in £2,000 for cystic fibrosis. Dan and Angela also raise funds for the Hollybank Trust in Mirfield.
