Policing on Spen meeting agenda

Inspector Tim Holland will update councillors on neighbourhood policing at the next meeting of Spen Valley Area Committee on Tuesday night (7pm).

The work of the Neighbourhood Management Group, whereby a range of services come together to address community safety-related issues and hotspots, will also be outlined by Insp Holland at the Cleckheaton Town Hall meeting.

There will be an update on the development of the Dewsbury Country Park, as part of the park lies within the Spen Valley.

The committee will also consider a variety of funding applications including a ‘Growing Together’ stall at Cleckheaton Farmers Market and Heckmondwike market, the ‘Financial Fitness’ project, floral decorations and hanging baskets, Chapel Lane Heckmondwike landscape improvements, Salvation Army pre-school outdoor play area and Roberttown Community Centre building improvements.

Committee chairman Coun Steve Hall, said: “It is a while since the area committee focus was on the Neighbourhood Police Team and the multi agency work that is carried out making the Spen Valley the safe place it is to live.

“The Dewsbury Country Park is an exciting development and it will be good to hear about how that is progressing, and the opportunities it will bring.

“Finally any one attending the meeting will also be able to take away with them a consultation pack relating to the proposed hospital changes.

“The meeting is open to everyone so do come along.’’
