Pioneering spirit

Repair work on Dewsbury's Pioneer House is scheduled to begin in April, it was revealed this week.
The iconic building on Northgate was bought by Kirklees Council in July 2011 and survey work has been carried out on the derelict structure since then.
Tons of dangerous asbestos has been removed and now the real repair work can finally be undertaken.
Scaffolding is set to surround the Grade II listed building and the work, which will finally make it wind and waterproof, is due to take eight to 10 months to complete.
Connect, a charitable association which provides affordable housing, are set to be Pioneer's first tenants and they are due to move in by September 2014.
