A DEWSBURY man has admitted to 16 sexual offences, including sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl.
Darren Senior, of Eastborough Crescent, also fitted cameras in toilets at a leisure centre and high school for his own sexual gratification.
The 41-year-old pleaded guilty at Leeds Crown Court this week to one charge of sexually assaulting the child, two counts of being in possession of more than 100 prohibited images of children, 10 counts of making indecent photographs of pre-pubescent children and three of voyeurism – where he installed the video recording equipment to watch people.
Senior set up the cameras in Odsal’s Richard Dunn Sports Centre where he worked five years ago, at Tong School, and in a toilet cubicle.
The court also heard that he printed off some of the images related to the voyeurism charges.
Senior’s lawyer Allan Armbrister said he had no previous convictions on such matters and that “it was moments of madness”. He said: “He is a hardworking man who has found himself involved in despicable acts.”
But prosecutor Sophie Drake said: “We do not accept this was momentary. He was looking at images for years, he has not worked at Richard Dunn for five years or more. This was not offending over a short period of time.”
Judge Adrian Waterman QC said Senior would more than likely face time behind bars for his offending, and adjourned his sentencing until Friday August 31 at Bradford Crown Court. Senior was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register.
