TWO people narrowly escaped serious injury after a car ploughed into a bus stop they were waiting at.

The dark-coloured Ford crashed into a bus shelter on Halifax Road in Staincliffe just after 8pm last Wednesday.

A man and woman avoided being struck by the car but suffered hand and foot injuries after being struck by debris from the impact. They attended hospital to be treated.

The male driver received minor injuries but didn’t need medical attention.
