RESIDENT Patrick Neal is proof it pays to be switched-on to politics after he won a TV in a raffle.
Patrick, of Mirfield, is among those trying to stop a developer building homes on much-loved fields near where he lives.
He went to a meeting organised by campaign group Save Mirfield at Northorpe Hall on January 8.
Patrick bought a ticket for their raffle, which raised £300 for campaign funds, and scooped the star prize.
While naturally delighted he added: “I hope everyone in Mirfield gets behind Save Mirfield in their campaign to save our green spaces.”
Group members need funds to cover the fees of professionals hired to help them fight Bellway Homes.
The company, one of three targeting Mirfield with separate schemes, wants to build 136 properties on the Balderstone Hall fields.
Donations can be made at Teale’s Garage on Leeds Road. Collections in aid of Save Mirfield will also be held over coming weeks.
