Hospital campaign - new date set for protest

A PROTEST against plans to cut services at Dewsbury District Hospital is to be held outside Dewsbury Town Hall on Saturday April 20.

The demonstration, which starts at noon, has been organised by the Save Our Local Hospital Services campaign group.

Leaflets, like the one pictured, are being distributed. It comes after a planned protest last month outside the same venue had to be cancelled due to snow.

The demonstration is over plans by health chiefs to downgrade A&E and maternity services at Dewsbury District Hospital.

Children’s services and specialist surgery could also be moved to Pinderfields in Wakefield. The plans are currently subject to public consultation.

Dewsbury Town Hall also hosts the campaign group’s next committee meeting on Monday April 29 at 7pm. All are welcome to attend. For more details call organiser Paul Wheelhouse on 07505 692223 or see www.facebook.com/SaveOurHospitalServicessohs.

The group is also on Twitter @SOLHS2.

Alternatively, just turn up to the demonstration on the day.
