CHART-TOPPING rock band The Hoosiers are to headline a music festival at Birstall’s Oakwell Hall.
The London four-piece, who hit number one with debut album The Trick To Life in 2007, will top the bill on Saturday July 12.
More than 20 bands, including local heroes Redemption and The Adorned, will play across three stages.
Proceeds from the festival will go to charities including Marie Curie Cancer Care and Oakwell Hall itself.
Organiser Paul Fisher said it had taken more than two years of planning to pull off the event.
He added: “We want to bring great music to an area that’s either lacking in opportunities or overshadowed by its bigger neighbours.
“With profits going back into the community there’s no better way for people to have a good day out.”
Paul and his team of volunteers were also behind the Cleckheaton Beer and Music Festival held last September.
They are looking for stewards and merchandise and food traders for their Birstall event.
Tickets cost £20, but ‘early bird’ tickets are available for £15 from their website at www.oakwellfestival.co.uk.
