PEOPLE with long-term health problems can get advice on coping with their illness at a series of events.
Kirklees Council has joined forces with the NHS to bring four sessions to Dewsbury and Batley this month.
Called Self Care for Life, the first one is at Dewsbury Market on Wednesday November 20 at 9am.
When first diagnosed with a long-term illness people may need to rethink how they do things or even learn new skills.
Some may feel they have lost control of their life, which is where the council’s Self Care Team come in.
They will also be at The Mill Village in Batley on Thursday November 21 from 10am to 3.30pm.
Further events will be held at Dewsbury Bus Station and the Batley Resource Centre on Wednesday and Thursday November 27 and 28 respectively, both starting at 9.30am.
Staff will show people steps they can take to look after themselves, from exercise to healthy eating and seeking medical help.
Anyone unable to attend can get a free copy of a booklet called Six Steps to Better Health from firstname.lastname@example.org.
