Fireworks fun at children's lantern parade

A CHILDREN’S lantern parade will wind its way through Savile Town, Thornhill, Thornhill Lees and Overthorpe later this month.
It starts from 7pm on February 23 and features music from the Northern Streets Light Orchestra from Thornhill’s community science college.
The event was previously known as Thornhill Lanterns but has changed its name to the ‘Shining Light Lanterns’ to reflect the involvement of other areas.
Illuminated bird lanterns made by youngsters will be paraded, followed by a firework display.
There will also be free workshops on how to make lanterns.
These are to be hosted in halfterm week by arts group Satellite Arts at:
n Savile Town Children’s Centre (Mon Feb 13, 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm);
n Thornhill Lees Village Hall (Tue Feb 14, 11am to 1pm, 2pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7pm );
n Thornhill Lees Community Centre (Wed Feb 15, 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm).
n Overthorpe Children’s Centre (Thu Feb 16, 9am to 11am);
n Thornhill Sports Centre (Thu Feb 16, from 2pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7pm. Also Fri Feb 17, 11am to 1pm, 2pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7pm and Sat Feb 18, from 10am to 2pm).
n Thornhill Children’s Centre (Mon Feb 20, 1pm to 3pm).
