FESTIVE food parcels for needy families have been collected by youngsters from a Heckmondwike school. Children from Leeside Community Primary in Leeds Old Road got enough donated goods to fill a shopping trolley on behalf of the Salvation Army. Captain Sharen Furlong, leader of the Salvation Army in Heckmondwike, said the food parcels would distributed locally. She added: “Christmas can be a difficult time for families. “This food will be used to bring some festive cheer to those in need. “We were delighted to have had the opportunity to visit the school and thank the children for their efforts.” Anyone who want to support the Salvation Army's work this Christmas can do so by calling Captain Furlong on 01924 402990.
