Fears for man living in tent by river

POLICE fear for the safety of a man believed to be living in a purple tent near the River Calder in Dewsbury.

The tent came to the attention of police in the search for Daniel France, which ended in tragedy last week. Mr France, 38, of Ravensthorpe, was found dead in the river on March 30 by a passerby.

Checks led police to believe the tent belongs to another man they now also have concerns about.

Items found inside the tent led officers to a supermarket and it is thought the man pictured may have been living in the tent.

Three other people have died recently after falling into either the River Calder or the neighbouring canal. Dewsbury river tent man cctv_two_a

Det Insp Stef Wiseman, of Kirklees CID, said: “We are keen to speak to the man pictured to verify that it was him living in the tent and that he is okay.”

Anyone with information can call Kirklees CID on 101.
