A GRANT of up to £10,000 given to a drugs forum in Dewsbury has vanished, Kirklees Council chiefs have admitted.
An audit showed between £5,000 and £10,000 was given to the group and is believed to have been misappropriated by one of its trustees.
The cash came from both the NHS and Kirklees, who have also admitted they have given up trying to reclaim it.
The drugs forum was not named, but in a link to previous Press stories the council claim the group no longer exists.
One of those accused of fraudulently accessing lottery funds was the defunct Dewsbury Drugs Forum.
It is not known if this or one of several other drugs forums connected to the Taleem Training Centre in Savile Town is involved here.
A council spokeswoman said: “The amount stolen is uncertain as the council never gained access to the bank account information.
“But the amount lost by the user forum was probably in the region £5,000-£10,000. It subsequently ceased to exist.”
“The council acknowledges some responsibility to oversee the group, but responsibility in the end is with the management committee of the forum.”
• The audit report also mentions the Muslim Mosque Burial Committee scandal first exposed by The Press.
It said Kirklees entered into a lease agreement with them which “in hindsight had commercial flaws” and cost taxpayers at least £25,000.
