BIG-HEARTED pub regulars in Thornhill helped a disabled teenager's wish come true with a cheque for more than £2,800.
The cash, for 17-year-old Mary Hinde, was raised by drinkers at the Flatt Top pub in Thornhill through a sponsored walk to Huddersfield in April.
Mary is blind and has cerebral palsy. The cheque means she can now have a state-of-the-art wheelchair to increase her mobility.
The motorised unit uses infra-red technology to allow Mary, of Sunny Bank Parade, Mirfield, to move around by herself.
Mary, who attends the Hollybank Trust for respite care, currently has a wheelchair her family or helpers have to push.
Mum Sarah Hinde set up the charity Mary's Wish to raise the £16,000 needed for the specialist wheelchair.
She said: “The wheelchair means Mary will be able to go where she wants to go rather than have to be pushed.”
The charity will continue raising funds for other things Mary needs. Anyone who wants to help or donate can do so via e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
