DNA kits handed out in burglary crackdown

CRIME prevention kits have been handed to 300 Chickenley households as part of a burglary crackdown.
Residents can now mark their valuables with SelectaDNA, which permanently stains items with a unique and traceable DNA code.
If a marked item is stolen but recovered, police can use the code to trace it back to the registered owners.
Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing officials have teamed up with Kirklees Council, tenants’ groups and police to provide the kits.
