Dewsbury woman charged with attempted murder

A WOMAN is in custody after being charged with the attempted murder of her friend.

Shaunna Littlewood, 25, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday accused of stabbing Sarah Holden at an address in Gladstone Court, Westborough, Dewsbury.

The court heard that the 24-year-old had been stabbed 17 times, with a stabbing to the sternum piercing the lining of her heart.

Miss Holden remains in hospital in a serious condition after being found lying on a bed in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police were called to the address, on a cul-de-sac off Staincliffe Road, at around 4.30am and paramedics treated the victim at the scene before taking her to hospital.

Littlewood’s case has been sent to Leeds Crown Court where she will appear on August 8.

Until then she has been remanded in custody.
