TWO MEN have been charged following a reported stabbing in Dewsbury.
Richard Carroll, 30, of Dewsbury, has been remanded into custody after appearing at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Saturday charged with robbery and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Ali Shah, 33, and also from Dewsbury, appeared at Bradford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday facing the same charges as well as an additional offence of theft.
The charges came after an incident outside Dewsbury Sports Centre early on Thursday morning.
The victim, in his 20s, suffered lacerations to his face and a stab wound in his back. He managed to get from the sports centre to the nearby Asda superstore on Mill Street West, and police were called at 4.47am.
A police cordon was put in place from Asda and along the bridge over the River Calder to Aldams Road.
Carroll will remain in custody until he appears at Leeds Crown Court on Friday September 13 – unless he applies for bail.
Detectives are still appealing for anyone with information to contact them via 101, quoting crime reference number 13190416321.
