Death of teenager Kelsey ‘not suspicious’

DETECTIVES investigating the sudden death of a Birstall teenager have ruled out suspicious circumstances.

Kelsey Womersley, 19, was found unresponsive by paramedics at a flat on Raikes Lane on Friday, March 7 and pronounced dead at the scene.

West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team launched a murder investigation and four people were arrested, including a 17-year-old girl who was held on suspicion of murder.

This week police said that following extensive enquiries into the circumstances and the cause of Kelsey’s death, the incident is no longer being treated as suspicious and no further action will be taken.

A spokesman added: “No charges were brought against any persons arrested in connection with the incident in the initial stages of the investigation.

“A file has been prepared for the coroner for an inquest to take place.”

The cause of Kelsey’s death has not been disclosed.
