A SCHEME to help community projects in North Kirklees get off the ground is planning its next event.
In its first two rounds, ‘Dewsbury Soup’ has helped boost Wilton Park’s new butterfly house with £435 in cash and awarded £444 to mental health support group Take Ten. Different community group representatives pitch their ideas ‘Dragons Den’-style to a panel of judges, who pick the best option to win the cash.
The money comes from a £5 entry fee, which includes a bowl of soup and a voting card for all participants. Organisers Victoria Ward, Gary Cox and Joanne Bell have announced a third ‘Soup’ event on Thursday, January 24, at Dewsbury Sports Centre.
The only rule is that pitches benefit the North Kirklees area and they must be submitted by January 10.
You can also apply to be a judge, provided you live or work in a North Kirklees postcode.
Pitch application forms and more details can be found at www.dewsburysoup.org.uk.
