Commerce chiefs in financial crisis

A business organisation which represents firms across Kirklees has hit financial trouble.

Forty workers at the MidYorkshire Chamber of Commerce have been given 30 days notice of redundancy.

A creditors meeting is set for next month in a bid to reschedule debts and allow the chamber to continue trading.

The agencys offices in Wakefield and Halifax are earmarked for closure. A third office, in Huddersfield, may survive.
