BURGLARS stole more than £25,000-worth of jewellery from a property in Gomersal.
The stash, which included an 18-carat gold Omega watch and three 14-carat pocket watches, was taken when thieves raided the house on Nibshaw Road.
The suspects forced their way in through a window between 11am and 12.30pm on March 17, before making an untidy search.
Also taken were two gold sovereigns dating back to 1879, three nine-carat double Albert pocket watch chains, 15 nine-carat gold fob seals, a large silver Albert pocket watch chain, 14 fobs, a silver fob watch with articulated fish vinigret, an Omega ‘bird cage’ clock and a small metal safe containing cash and passports.
PC Sally Baines of Kirklees CID, said: “The items taken are very distinctive and will stand out if they are offered for sale. They represent a lifetime of collecting antique watches and this incident has caused the victim considerable distress and heartache.”
Anybody with any information is asked to contact Kirklees CID on 101.
