Children's services consultation

CONSULTATION on proposed changes to children’s centres and family support services is due to start.
Seven centres in North Kirklees, including  Mirfield and Gomersal, face being downgraded to save money.
They would become ‘associate’ centres with fewer services while nine in North Kirklees would be ‘lead’ facilities offering full provision.
‘Better off’ areas (like Mirfield) are being targeted with the focus instead on Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury Moor and Chickenley among others.
The costcutting would keep all 32 children’s centres across Kirklees open rather than having to shut some.
Consultation starts on Monday November 21. It lasts nine weeks until January 20 and anyone can contribute.
Consultation booklets are to be sent to community venues and forms will also be available online at www.kirklees.gov.uk.
