Cheerleaders look for new faces and funds

DEWSBURY RAMS’ cheerleading squad are on the lookout for new recruits and sponsors.
The successful Rams Cheerleaders were formed 12 years ago and the squad has grown in size over the seasons, performing at rugby games as well as at local events including Dewsbury On Sea, Christmas lights switchons, galas and fetes.
Now with junior and senior squads they have also recently become involved with the UK Cheerleading Association and aim to start participating in regional and national competitions.
Organiser Frances Burkinshaw said: “We would struggle to continue with the work we do without generous sponsorship from local companies and establishments.
“We’re currently looking for a main sponsor for the next two years who would be able to contribute around £1,500 towards muchneeded kit and equipment.”
Sponsors would have their company logo emblazoned on the cheerleaders’ kit and can also make use of a hospitality box for a game at Dewsbury Rams’ Tetley’s Stadium. Associate sponsors are also being sought.
The cheerleaders are looking to recruit new members aged five and above for the 2011 season, with an open rehearsal session being held on Tuesday October 12 from 6pm at the Tetley’s Stadium on Owl Lane.
