A MAN was given a suspended prison sentence and disqualified from driving after police found £80-worth of cannabis on him following a car chase.
Fraser Laycock, of Brighton Street, Heckmondwike, was driving a Vauxhall Astra on December 28 last year when police began to follow him because they determined the vehicle was not insured.
Laycock failed to stop and reached speeds of up to 50mph for about six minutes before halting in Richard Thorpe Avenue.
When he was searched, police found a bag of cannabis in his pocket and more in the car.
The 22-year-old admitted dangerous driving, having no insurance and possessing cannabis, and was given a total of eight months in prison suspended for two years.
He was also disqualified from driving for three years and given 200 hours of unpaid work.
