AN 81-YEAR-OLD man from Birstall took to the skies for an extraordinary charity fundraiser at the weekend.
Octogenarian Stephen Chadwick, pictured, completed a skydive to raise funds to help buy a powered wheelchair for his grandson’s best friend, William Jackson.
William suffers from muscular dystrophy and the wheelchair he needs costs £8,000.
His family and friends have so far raised £5,000, but need help with the remaining £3,000.
Stephen jumped out of a plane at 10,000 feet on Saturday at Skydive GB near Bridlington.
He is also raising money for Muscular Dystrophy UK in memory of his brother, who was affected by the condition too.
William’s mum, Julie Jackson, said: “Stephen is so inspiring. He came up with the idea of the skydive and made all the arrangements himself and has raised so much money in the process. He really is a hero.”
