STUDENTS as young as six years old have become yellow belts at the newlyformed Mirfield Karate Club. They reached the level in the Shukokai form of the selfdefence art in a twohour assessment at St Mary’s Church Hall.
The grading incorporated Kihon (basic technique), Kata (a set of formal moves) and selfdefence techniques.
Paul Gibson, who runs the club, said: “They’ve all worked tremendously hard over a fourmonth period to achieve their goal.”
Mr Gibson, a third Dan black belt, runs classes at St Mary’s from 4.30pm to 6pm on Saturdays. For more details call 07517 683106.
