STUDENTS at Birkenshaw’s BBG Academy were treated to a special netball session with England star Natalie Panagarry.
The school won a competition to win a coaching session with an England netball player.
Loughborough Lightning captain Natalie, who lives in Cleckheaton, answered questions from the school’s netball players before teaching them valuable skills in a one-hour coaching session, which they then put in to practice with a game.
The students then had the opportunity to have pictures taken with Natalie.
PE teacher Charlotte Sutcliffe organised the morning and was the one who entered BBG Academy into the competition with Go Girl Car Insurance, a sponsor of England Netball.
Each school was set up with a page on the Go Girl site and had to collect as many votes as possible, and BBG came out on top with 600 votes.
Miss Sutcliffe said: “It was a remarkable afternoon and undoubtedly the highlight of the year for BBG netball.
“Winning the prize of a lifetime through the support of the netball community at BBG is a testament to the impact and value of the sport, which has grown from strength to strength in the academy.”
She added: “It was a fantastic experience to get feedback from a player in the current game and the girls listened eagerly, soaking up every last piece of information given.”
