A VANDAL who caused damage worth £157,000 at a Birstall plant hire site has been sent to a young offenders’ institution.
Jordan Cooper, 18, was sentenced to 12 months in the unit after admitting to causing the damage at KPH Plant Hire off Gelderd Road.
He went on the rampage with a 17yearold accomplice, who cannot be named be named for legal reasons, in March.
The youth was given a fourmonth detention and training order. The pair were traced when Cooper’s DNA was found on a glove.
Cooper, who was homeless at the time, and his accomplice smashed vehicles and other equipment. They also stole two satnav devices.
Most of the damage was caused when they went on a bumper carstyle joyride at the firm’s Pennine View Industrial Estate good yard.
