WAMITAB and FACTS qualified our recycling and operations consultants work with our internationally recognised team of soil scientists who lead the field in recycling wastes in the UK and our overseas markets.
 
Our Environmental Consultancy team’s expertise across legislative and regulatory compliance is also highly regarded, backed up by the advisory service we provide to both clients and government departments.
 
Our field operations teams are supported at head office by experienced Finance, Marketing, HR, Transport and Administration personnel.

Jon Smith

Jon is based at our Newent office and is responsible for 4R Group’s activities in the south of England and Wales. With over 20 years’ experience of recycling all manner of by-products, he is extremely knowledgeable of the waste industry and brings a determination to find recycling solutions for difficult materials to give clients viable choices. With a professional & experienced approach, he is an excellent manager of customer relationships and strives for complete customer satisfaction which he continually demonstrates through account management to provide a top quality service.

Paul Whyatt

Paul has a BSc in Soil Science and MSc in Environmental Microbiology. Since graduating in 2000 he spent three years on an academic research programme titled “The beneficial use of green waste compost in arable crop production”.  At the time this now common place activity was novel in the UK!  He then went on to assist in the establishment and management of a successful open air windrow composting facility with all products being used in the horticultural marketplace.  Prior to joining 4R Group in 2014 he was the Organics Manager for a large PFI funded waste management company producing and marketing both mixed waste composts and PAS 100 compost.  Paul has a vast amount of experience and knowledge across the waste management, horticultural and land restoration sectors.

Dr Becky Wheeler

Becky is a specialist in the market development and recycling of mixed waste organics and has spent 14 years in the organics recycling sector recovering a range of materials to land. She leads the company’s technical consultancy team, delivering specialist work across environmental permitting, PAS/QP, Sludge Regulations (including Biosolids Assurance Scheme), contaminated land and incident/emergency clean-up. A key part of her role is liaising with environmental regulators, including provision of technical responses to consultations and knowledge transfer. She manages a wide range of clients, from farmers to international waste management companies, including a CASE partnership with Keele University supervising PhD research into the effects of waste applications to agricultural land. Becky graduated with a PhD from the University of Reading in 2010 after completing her doctoral thesis on the market development of waste-derived organics. She is a Chartered Scientist through the IPSS and Science Council and is a FACTS qualified advisor, a member of the BASIS Professional Register and a professional member of the IPSS. Since the start of her career, Becky has been involved in a multitude of waste and land regeneration projects and has a proven track record in Environmental Permitting and planning.

                                

Ian Holden

Ian has over 32 years’ experience of working and managing within the agricultural related industry which includes 17 years within waste management and recycling operations.  Ian manages the recycling operations for multiple 4R Group contracts that cover a wide range of industrial liquid and solid waste materials recycled to agriculture land.  He has an in depth knowledge and practical experience of recycling and treatment processes that include all aspects of landspreading of liquids and solids; Mobile Plant Licensed Facilities; In Vessel and Open Windrow Composting; Anaerobic Digestion; Animal Feed and Bedding.  Ian has undergone a huge amount of Agricultural Training Board and waste management training and holds qualifications for IOSH Managing Safety, NVQ Supervisory Management, WAMITAB, Land Management and Soil Science.

Graham Roberts

Graham joined the group as Operations Manager in July 2006. He gained an HND in Agriculture followed by 17 years practical experience in large scale intensive arable farm management and a further 11 years’ experience within waste management, recycling industrial by-products to agriculture and to industrial “brown field sites” and former colliery workings. Recently Graham has also project managed removal of silts from settlement ponds on power station sites. His extensive knowledge of the recycling industry includes Waste analysis and interpretation; Transport and recycling machinery management; Biosolids application and utilisation; Pollution risk assessment; Health & Safety risk assessment; Farmer/site owner liaison and Sub contractor sourcing and management. Graham is a Member of Basis Professional Register (MBPR) and holds Fertiliser Advisors Certification & Training Scheme (FACTS), IOSH Managing Safely and WAMITAB qualifications.

Jonny Binns

Jonny has over 9 years’ experience in the waste industry and is our Transport Manager with a national & international CPC qualification.  He is responsible for managing our fleet of vehicles including HGVs and company cars as well as organising sub-contractors to work on various contracts.  His input is required on the majority of transport contracts we deliver, annually he co-ordinates the movement of circa 500,000 tonnes of material for several clients.  Jonny’s organisational skills are key to the work required for this role.

Diane Rogers

Diane has almost 25 years’ experience of working in a very busy office environment and joined 4R Group in April 2007.  She originally led the Administration team in co-ordinating the activities that facilitate the smooth running of the company but as the business evolved, so did her role and she is now PA to the Directors and is the company’s HR Manager.

Richard Rogers

Richard joined 4R Group in September 2008 and is now responsible for co-ordinating and auditing the procedures and processes of 4R Group’s quality (ISO 9001:2008), health and safety (OHSAS 18001:2007) and environmental (ISO 14001:2004) management systems.  Richard is also involved in developing and initiating a database for recording 4R Group’s land spreading deployment, delivery and spreading information as well as contributing to both consultancy and operational projects.  Richard combines a practical agricultural background with more than 20 years’ experience working as a soil and plant science research scientist. Specialising in entomology, he has been in charge of a range of field and glasshouse trials, including bioassays.  Richard has been involved in the waste industry for over 15 years, recycling various by-products to restoration sites and agricultural land. He has also supervised bio-aerosol monitoring at a number of locations as well as extensive experience in environmental assessment and pollution remediation at aircraft crash sites.

Lorna Hobbs

Lorna joined 4R Group in September 2010 and has over 8 years’ office experience.  She is responsible for managing the administration team to operate the busy office efficiently.  Lorna provides administration and accounting support to the sales, technical consultancy and operational teams as well as assisting the Financial Director.  Her organisational skills and methodical approach ensures paperwork and tasks are completed accurately and to specified deadlines.
