THIS WEEK'S EDITION:

Issue 788

This week in The Press, read the heartbreaking story of a man who posted his last words to Facebook before travelling to Switzerland to end his life.

David Nigel Casson, a former soldier from the Spen Valley, travelled to Dignitas in Zurich to end his life after a 10-year battle with motor neurone disease.

Bravely, he joked in a farewell post in Facebook that he had been "dying to post" his decision to "die with dignity instead of being tortured."

We have the latest from singing sensation Jade Helliwell as she is signed by a top music producer after he went to see her gig.

Read about the horrific attack on a 76-year-old lady in Cleckheaton after she was hit on the back of the head with a hammer, and the woman who has been banned for life from keeping pets after she seriously neglected her dog, leaving vets no option but to put him down.

Mirfield has a new mayor in 25-year-old Paul Blakeley – and we have all the latest election news.

In sport, Dewsbury Rams prepare for their Challenge Cup clash with Super League side Wakefield Trinity tomorrow and we have the latest from boss Neil Kelly.

Kelly insists the pressure is off the Rams as they go into the game as underdogs and thinks it's a great opportunity for the players to express themselves.

Also, Batley chairman Kevin Nicholas remains confident with head coach Matt Diskin despite a run of five successive defeats in the league and cup.

He admits they're not where they want to be but believes improvement will come over the next few weeks.

Read the latest match reports from the National Conference League and who sits where after a jam-packed weekend of cricket.

We've also got the latest junior sport round-up as Savile Town FC celebrate a brace of trophies.
