THIS WEEK'S EDITION:

Issue 768

In The Press this week, read about how a housing developer has submitted plans for over 200 homes in Dewsbury.

The plans, submitted by Miller Homes, are on land allocated in the Kirklees Local Plan and could eventually see over 4,000 houses built.

Also, the future of two former museums in North Kirklees remains up in the air as buyers are sought.

Both Dewsbury Museum and Red House in Gomersal have now closed to the public and Kirklees Council is in talks about a potential takeover with community groups, and four wards are set to remain open at Dewsbury Hospital after safety fears derailed plans to close them.

In sport this week, Batley Bulldogs and Dewsbury Rams prepare to do battle in the 2016 Powerhouse Challenge.

Read a four-page pre-match build-up in The Press.

Meanwhile Liversedge FC slipped up in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, as did Cleckheaton RUFC in National League Three North.

And finally, discover who Mike Smith has tipped in the racing throughout out the festive period.

It's all in The Press – your best festive read!

Merry Christmas from all the team on Branch Road… :-)
