This week in The Press, read about Kirklees Council's decision to close two of North Kirklees' museums.

The council's cabinet voted to go ahead with plans to shut Dewsbury Museum and Red House in Gomersal.

The decision has been met with anger by protestors who were desperate to see the sites remain open.

A 22-year-old cyclist from Dewsbury has been killed in a road collision with a bus in Soothill – and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The council have also this week revealed that youth centres look set to be closed alongside the cuts to Children's Centres which have been reported in the past few weeks.

Also, the owner of a sandwich making firm has appeared in court after his sites were found to be dangerously unclean and read about the selfless youngster who met Prince Harry this week due to work he undertakes to take care of his ill brother.

In sport this week Batley have announced their first signings since the departure of John Kear.

Joel Farrell and Macauley Hallett are the pair arriving at Mount Pleasant ahead of new coach Matt Diskin, who officially takes over at the club in November.

Meanwhile at Championship rivals Dewsbury Rams fans' favourite Lucas Walshaw has signed a permanent deal along with veteran Mitch Stringer.

Elsewhere, Liversedge remain top of the Northern Counties East League Premier after beating Parkgate, but Jonathan Rimmington's men were knocked out of the West Riding County Cup in midweek.

In this week's paper you can also find out what Gary Sykes thinks about life after boxing.

It's all in The Press, the only paper that's got North Kirklees covered.
