FRIDAY MAY 22 EDITION:  This week, we take an in-depth look at how a Ravensthorpe bed firm linked to human trafficking has called in the administrators with debts of up to £20m.

About 180 staff at Kozee Sleep Beds Ltd were sent home by administrators KPMG, having been given notice of potential redundancy.

Managing director Mohammed Rafiq and two other staff are awaiting trial on matters related to human trafficking following a major police operation.

Our analysis looks at the company finances and connections to controversial businessman and political fixer Tahir 'Terry' Zaman.

Elsewhere, an Earlsheaton family have asked the attorney general to review what they believe is a lenient sentence given to a repeat sex offender.

A focus on Batley town centre revealed legal high drugs for sale in a high street shop, interest in the vacant former Boots store and the area's new MP looking for premises.

In Dewsbury campaigners want a town council while a housing association is spending £1.5m bringing two empty buildings back into use.

Find out why a Iron Age mud hut is coming to Birstall and what a school has done to gain three successive good inspection ratings.

And there is a feature on Dewsbury East looking at all the good things happening there, from regeneration around the Tetley's Stadium to an improving care home.

In sport, it will be all about rugby and not rollercoasters as Batley and Dewsbury go up against each other at the Summer Bash.

Batley go into the game full of confidence after their league win over Workington two weeks ago, and their performance last weekend nearly knocked Widnes out the Challenge Cup.

Down at the Tetley's Stadium, Dewsbury will be looking to bounce back on the beach after they suffered two defeats in the space of five days, at the hands of Warrington in the cup and Sheffield on Tuesday night.

Glenn Morrison side some of his players just weren't up to scratch at the Keepmoat Stadium but said it will be all guns blazing in Blackpool on Sunday.

Back in sunny Kirklees, both Shaw Cross sides managed to get wins, as did Celtic and Thornhill Trojans.

Mirfield Stags got back to winning ways, but the same can't be said for Dewsbury Moor, who lost out to Stanningley and Birstall Vic who went down to Hull Wyke.

Mike Popplewell has delivered with all the latest from the Central and Bradford cricket leagues, with two of our big sides going toe-to-toe this weekend.

It's all in The Press, the only newspaper which has North Kirklees covered.
