WITH THE Tour de France almost here TV news bulletins have been asking ‘what’s so great about God’s Own County?’
Organisers of this year’s Mirfield Show hope to answer that emphatically with a best of Yorkshire theme.
Competitions at the agricultural spectacular on Sunday August 17 are all about showing what great things the county has to offer.
From the prettiest flowers to the tastiest vegetables and best live music, the Mirfield Show will have it all.
Among the attractions will be a Made in Yorkshire craft marquee and stalls with all sorts of locally grown produce.
Committee chairman Karen Bullivant said: “There are many reasons to be proud of and to celebrate Yorkshire.
“We also have a lot to be proud of in Mirfield too, so we will showcase some of the great things that we have on our own doorstep.”
She added more than 150 groups tried for just 70 pitches, making it another record year for applications.
The show attracts more than 12,000 people annually from across North Kirklees and beyond.
Sponsorship packages are available, with offers including free lunches, guest parking, adverts and website coverage.
Tickets are available online now at only £3.50 each (£5 on the day). Children under 16 enter free.
