A CHOIR in Batley is proving so popular that organisers are setting up a new group for those with work commitments.
The Singing For Fun choir has been inundated with would-be members who are unable to attend their afternoon sessions.
Demand is such that the choir, based at St Mary’s Social Club and Parochial Hall, is launching a new group from Wednesday.
It will meet at the same venue from 7pm to 9pm and no previous singing experience is required.
St Mary’s club secretary Denis Walsh, who is also a choir member, said: “We know there’s lots of people who enjoy singing.
“But they may have never had the courage or confidence to sing in public or with a group before.
“Once they get started the confidence will build very quickly. It’s also a great way to make new friends.”
The afternoon session has about 40 members and Denis said: “Our leader, Anthony Davis, jumped at the chance to develop a new group.
“He’s played a major role in boosting membership of the afternoon group and is now looking forward to this new challenge.”
Each session costs £3. For more details call Denis on 01924 503758 or e-mail email@example.com.
