Busy Sam picks up top award

Issue 546

MIRFIELD mum and entrepreneur Sam Pearce, above right, has picked up another impressive award after juggling the demands of parenthood and running a successful business.

Sam, who started the Potting Shed Spa at Redbrick Mill in Batley last year, won the award for Best New StartUp at the Mumpreneur Awards, an annual ceremony aimed at celebrating parents throughout the UK who manage the difficult task of juggling business with family life.

Born and bred in Mirfield, Sam combines being a mum to eightyearold Matilda with running The Potting Shed and the wellestablished Eastthorpe Spa.

Up against 1,200 other entries, Sam was recognised for making the biggest impact in the shortest amount of time.

“From 1,200 entries, to win is such an achievement,” she said.

“The Potting Shed Spa was a risk, especially in this climate, but it has proved without question that the industry and clientele alike were ready for a change and we have done it with style and aplomb.”

The category was judged by highprofile businesswomen including Hilary Devey, Vanessa Gold, Jo Elvin, Karen Millen and Claire Young.

The Potting Shed Spa has already secured several top awards, including Best British Salon (three rooms or less) at the 2012 Professional Beauty Awards. To find out more about The Potting Shed visit www.thepottingshed spa.co.uk.
