A world record bid ... for hide and seek!

Issue 478

People from across the district are joining forces in a world record attempt for the biggestever game of hide and seek.
Organisers hope around 1,000 people will take part in an event which offers fun for all the family at Beaumont Park, Huddersfield, on Sunday July 3.
The gigantic game is open to people of all ages and all backgrounds – anyone who would like to be part of a historymaking world record bid should arrive at the park to register at noon.
The organisers are young people who attend the Young Batley Centre, along with Kirklees Council’s Young People’s Service and the Friends of Beaumont Park.
Kerrie Clark, a youth worker who is based at the Young Batley Centre, said: “The young people have got a real buzz of excitement about the whole day.
“The main aim of the event is to create a wonderful community atmosphere with everyone, no matter what their age, enjoying playing together in the beautiful surroundings of Beaumont Park.
“This event will really demonstrate the power of community spirit and we’d like to encourage everyone to come along and join the fun.”
Peter, one of the young people organising the record attempt, said: “This is a good opportunity to break a world record ... and you don’t normally get a chance to do that.
“It’s something really special and different.”
