Batley Sports and Tennis Centre reopens after £4.6m revamp

Issue 408

BATLEY Sports and Tennis Centre was relaunched this week after a £4.6 million revamp.

The centre in Windmill Lane, Howden Clough, now boasts an impressive new fitness suite along with a new sports hall, changing rooms, reception and pool hall.

The old fitness suite was completely remodelled and has been filled with top of the range Technogym equipment.

Centre manager Jaime Nelson said: Were all very excited about the new fitness suite. Weve only been open a few days and already feedback has been very positive.

Thank you to our current members for their patience with the refurbishment.

Were now looking forward to the opening of the pool in summer.

A new fitness manager has also joined the team at Batley. Rory Docherty, 30, said he was excited and added: It will be a big challenge but great fun.

Investment for the project has come from a £1.75 million Government grant, a £2.75 million contribution from Kirklees Council and £140,000 from Kirklees Active Leisure.
