The story that sealed Sanams fate

Issue 354

TRAGIC tot Sanam Navsarka was doomed as soon as her mum met sadistic Subhan Anwar.
Anwar, 21, who grew up in Batley, had a pregnant wife when he met vulnerable single mum Navsarka in his uncles mobile phone shop in the town.
Anwar chatted her up, they swapped telephone numbers and later that day they had sex as Sanam sat in a pushchair nearby.
Navsarka, who had been disowned by her family, fell pregnant at 18. Her father didnt want to know.
She moved into a onebedroomed council flat in Howley Walk, Soothill, in May 2005. Sanam was born on the sofa on Christmas Eve 2005.
In February last year Navsarka, who changed her name from Zaman by deed poll, met Anwar.
He left his wife and moved into the Howley Walk flat. That sealed Sanams fate.
Neighbours say Navsarka changed when she met Anwar. He had control over her. In April the couple moved to Deighton, where the abuse took place.
Victoria Roberts, who moved into the Howley Walk flat shortly after the couple moved out, told how tiny handprints were found on the walls.
A cupboard where Sanam was locked up has had the door removed.
Miss Roberts admitted it felt a bit creepy whenever she walked past the cupboard.
In a final twist Navsarka, who was pregnant with Anwars child, had a miscarriage while on remand last year.
