Town boss picks up plaudits

MIRFIELDbased businessman Dean Hoyle has won another top award.
Mr Hoyle, who recently sold his stake in greetings card chain Card Factory for £350 million, was named ‘Master Entrepreneur’ at the Yorkshire Business Insider’s ‘42 under 42’ Awards Dinner.
The award recognised Mr Hoyle’s achievement in launching his business from nothing and turning it into a national success story.
The accolade is the latest in a long line of achievements for Mr Hoyle, who was shortlisted for the ‘Business Leader’ category at Insider’s 2009 dinner.
Mr Hoyle, who attended Heckmondwike Secondary Modern School, is also chairman of Huddersfield Town and is a lifelong fan.
Mr Hoyle and wife Janet starting out selling cards from the back of a van in 1993. He quickly realised that the big greetings cards firms made huge profits and by having his own designs printed he could massively undercut them.
Mr Hoyle quickly built up a high street empire with almost 500 shops.
This year he sold out to a private equity firm and will focus on his involvement with Huddersfield Town.
