Mirfield plumber Mark Hemingway has been presented with a top qualification by the Lord Mayor of London.
Mark, 42, who runs MJH Plumbing, Heating and Gas, was one of 22 recipients of the Master Plumbing Certificate.
He travelled to Plaisterers’ Hall in the City of London to meet Lord Mayor Alderman David Wootton.
His certificate is regarded as the ‘gold standard’ of the plumbing industry and is awarded jointly by three bodies – the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering, the Worshipful Company of Plumbers and the City and Guilds of London Institute.
The certificate recognises the training and expertise of plumbers who have worked in the industry for more than 10 years.
Only 165 people have been awarded the title of Master Plumber since the scheme was introduced in 2001.
Alderman Wootton told Mark and his fellow recipients: “I hope that you, in turn, will support the next generation of apprentices.”
Mark, meanwhile, said the certificate gives customers extra peace of mind when hiring MJH Plumbing, Heating and Gas.
“It was an honour to be there,” Mark said. “I’m sure it’s going to help me in the future, as Master Plumber is the ultimate industry seal of approval.”
