Racing millionaire on starting grid at 'Mafia' event

A BATLEYborn tycoon worth about £400 million is the latest to join a business conference aimed at inspiring budding entrepreneurs.
Lawrence Tomlinson, founder and chairman of the LNT Group, will be on the “billionpound panel” at the Yorkshire Mafia Conference in March.
It means a notable North Kirklees double as Heckmondwikeborn Card Factory founder Dean Hoyle is to appear on the same bill.
The Mirfieldbased Huddersfield Town chairman will join Mr Tomlinson in sharing tips at the Leeds event on what it takes to build a successful business.
Motor racing driver Mr Tomlinson, 168th on the last year’s Sunday Times rich list, runs a host of companies including Ginetta Cars and Ideal Care Homes.
He said: “Yorkshire is a hotbed of entrepreneurial talent and I’m happy to share my experiences with people who want to make their mark.
“It would have been useful to have had a forum like this when I was setting up my own business. I commend the work of the organisers.”
The Yorkshire Mafia event, due to be held at the Royal Armouries Museum on March 11, is the brainchild of Danny Matharu, of Birstallbased events firm Hillrich.
It is free and will feature a range of seminars. For more information visit the www.yorkshiremafiaconference.com website.
