Icing on the cake at The Baker's Shop

THIS IS Christmas food as it should be!
Orders are now being taken for the fabulous Christmas produce that has been added to the extensive range of quality goods at The Baker’s Shop in Ossett.
The Baker’s Shop, in Thompson Yard, off New Street, is the perfect place to pick up all your festive favourites, including Christmas cakes, mince pies, stand pies, partysized steak pies, yule logs, stollen (a traditional German loafshaped cake) and much more.
Opened in June The Baker’s Shop, run by husband and wife team Paul and Lisa Thompson, has brought a derelict former pub on New Street back to life.
It’s one of three parts to the couple’s business along with The Bake House, where their delicious white, granary and wholemeal loaves along with pumpkin and sunflower seed varieties are baked every day, and the adjoining Cafe Vie.
To take the stress out of Christmas Cafe Vie, a haven for coffee lovers, is the perfect place to unwind and relax.
Staff have even created a ‘Christmas Special sandwich’ for the festive season, filled with turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce.
Cafe Vie’s extensive menu includes items like quality sandwiches, homemade pizzas, cakes, jacket potatoes, fresh soups and pies and pasties, all using locallysourced seasonal ingredients.
The 13strong team pride themselves on their freshlybaked bread, savouries and confectionary, all made daily on the premises.
Speciality breads and homemade buns are all are made by hand, using traditional recipes.
The lovinglymade creations can be bought from The Baker’s Shop and are also used to make Cafe Vie’s delicious sandwiches.
But the classy and luxurious surroundings do not mean premium prices and Lisa Thompson said: “We aim to offer quality and excellent customer service without being too exclusive.
“We’re trying to do all that we can for Ossett.
“All our ingredients are locally sourced and we’re buying meats and other produce from the local butcher’s.”
The Baker’s Shop in New Street has car parking available right outside – for more information call 01924 270010.
