DISABLED people in Mirfield got the perfect anniversary present this week in the shape of a new sponsor.
The Hollybank Trust, celebrating its diamond jubilee this year, has teamed up with business group Connect Gazelles.
Each of the company’s staff is being encouraged to raised at least £60 to mark Hollybank’s 60th birthday.
Connect Gazelles is a not-for-profit firm offering support services to new businesses.
Boss Nick Butler has set a fundraising target for 2014 of £5,000, which will be used to buy new equipment.
Nick previously raised £1,800 for Hollybank last year by completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
The new deal, which will see them sponsor Hollybank’s annual It’s a Knockout tournament, was announced on Monday.
Mr Butler said: “It is great to be associated with such a worthwhile charity and the work they do for those with profound disabilities.”
Hollybank care for about 100 children and adults at their purpose-built complex off Far Common Road.
Fundraiser Suzanne Dyda said: “Nick has a very ambitious target which will help us to realise some of the exciting plans for our anniversary year.
“We want to supply multi-sensory environments for our residents to further enrich their lives.”
The It’s a Knockout Tournament is on Saturday and Sunday July 26 and 27. More diamond jubilee events are to be announced soon.
