AN OPTICIAN can see such a bright future in Mirfield that he plans to expand his practice.
Darren Aveyard hopes to offer an extra examination room, increased opening hours and take on more staff.
He said business is up 10 per cent since taking over premises in Huddersfield Road three years ago.
The changes are planned for the next 18 months and are aimed at busy 25 to 40-year-olds.
Darren, who has run D Aveyard Opticians in Leeds for 20 years, said: “We want to give people greater flexibility when it comes to appointments.”
The practice currently has eight support staff and three opticians. Mr Aveyard hopes to hire two more opticians. He is also up for optician of the year at the Macular Society’s Awards for Excellence in September.
Patient Peter Wallis, of Mirfield, nominated him after the pensioner was diagnosed with the condition during a routine eye test.
On the booming business Mr Aveyard added: “We really get to know our customers.
“We find they’re incredibly loyal and come back time and again once they’re through the door.
“The investment we’re looking to make in Mirfield means we’ll be able to reach even more people.”
