CRICKETERS in Batley were bowled over by a donation of building materials for their new clubhouse.
Crossbank Methodists Cricket Club, who play on Lea Road, were given timber worth £400 by Jewson of Cleckheaton.
It has been used to help build a new clubhouse a function room, bars, a kitchen and changing rooms.
The donation came through project building contractor Simon Rudkin, told the club about a funding scheme.
Jewson’s and the Nat West bank are part of an initiative called Cricket Force aimed a rebuilding club facilities.
Crossbank, who play in the Huddersfield Central League, joined and are now being helped with their new clubhouse.
Coach Richard Hosley said: “The new clubhouse will give our 250 members a larger, secure and more inviting environment.
“We’re very grateful for the materials Jewson donated.
"We look forward to continuing our friendship with the Cleckheaton branch.”
Steve Garraghty, branch manager at the building supplies firm, added: "This was a great opportunity to give something back to the area.
“It’s been a pleasure to be a part of this project and we can’t wait to see the end result.”
