Dewsburybased Parker Hannifin’s Racor Filter Division Group has been praised at an industry awards ceremony.
The firm was named as runnerup in the Green and Growth category at the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards for its approach to a particular industry challenge which led to improved business growth.
The EEF Awards recognise excellence in enterprise, innovation, environmental performance, exporting and skills development among UK manufacturers.
Based at the Shaw Cross Business Park, Parker Racor Filter Division Group Europe, which makes filtration products, was praised for the creation of its SuperImpactor crankcase ventilator.
The emission control system was the research and development team’s solution to demanding legislation to reduce gas emissions.
The SuperImpactor, which is smaller, lighter and a more economical and efficient system than its rivals, eliminates environmental pollution and maintains engine performance, leading to increased business growth in Europe, the Middle East and Asia by seven per cent in the last year, with future growth predicted at more than 20 per cent.
Andy Tuscher, North East Region Director of EEF, said: “Parker Hannifin is a true business success story that highlights the role the region plays in responsibly driving the UK economy forward.
“By taking bold steps and investing in its technology, they have grown their business and simultaneously encouraged other businesses to be more environmentally responsible. Innovative companies such as Parker Hannifin are an asset and are very worthy of their success.â€
Congratulating Parker Hannifin, Dr Cedric Rodrigues of awards sponsor ENERG, said: “We applaud the remarkable achievements of Parker Hannifin and the shining example of green business excellence they are setting.
“Their success demonstrates the rewards available to manufacturers who focus on improving environmental performance.â€
BBC business journalist Declan Curry was on hand to present the award.
