Jose Mourinho is joining a new team – but don’t worry Chelsea fans, he won’t be leaving Stamford Bridge. The manager will be joining the BT Sport channel as a new ambassador, a role he told me about while visiting TV studios in London. The new role includes making football programmes, acting as an expert on the game and becoming an ambassador for the network.
Strictly Come Dancing’s familiar judging panel has signed up for a further series ahead of the BBC One show’s return in the autumn. Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood – who have been with the programme since its inception – will be joined once again by Darcey Bussell, who will be on board for her third series.
Former Coronation Street star Kevin Kennedy will be making special appearances at ‘Coronation Street the Tour’ throughout the month. The actor played Curly Watts in the ITV soap for 20 years, appearing from 1983 to 2003.
Actress and comedian Julie Walters was reported to be joining Coronation Street, but Julie herself has revealed that the story, which was featured in a Sunday tabloid, is simply not true.
“I do love and watch the show, but honestly nothing is happening at present, but you never know in the future,” she said.
Countdown hostess Rachel Riley has popped up on TV ads as the new face of a toothpaste. She tells me: “I don’t get offered that much, but I totally believe in this product and so I said yes.”
She admits, though: “I think this all comes from my time on Strictly Come Dancing, it did so much for my profile.”
Danny Miller’s upcoming return to Emmerdale is not an act of desperation, according to the actor, who plays Aaron in the show. He said: “I was asked back, and thought about it for a while, but with soaps people do return and there is nothing wrong with it, as it makes it more believable to me.”
EastEnders star Charlie Brooks has revealed that she plans to pursue more theatre roles now she has left the BBC soap. The actress, who played Janine Butcher, tells me: “I am glad she was not killed off, but hopefully some good theatre work will now start to come through from leaving.”
Kevin Whately, familiar to many as Lewis on ITV, makes his return to the theatre in the role of Herbie in the smash hit musical ‘Gypsy’. He tells me: “I wanted to pick something totally different from the parts I have played on TV and I think my fans will love it.”
Jason Connery son of Sean has recently appeared on Celebrity MasterChef and admits he has been stung by some of the comments about his looks. “I think people forget that you’re not sixteen any more, and of course they remember me with hair,” he laughed.
Home and Away could be welcoming back one of its most famous faces, if Dannii Minogue has her way. She’s said she would love to make a return to the Australian soap.
Dannii starred in the show as rebellious teenager Emma Jackson 24 years ago; before she made her name as a singer, but said she still daydreams about making a comeback to Summer Bay.
Alan Titchmarsh has confirmed that the next series of his long-running chat show will be his last. “I think it’s best to go out on a high, and I am still unsure if I will return for ‘Love My Garden’ on ITV. I am looking at all options right now and wanting a change of everything.
Emmerdale’s Ashley Thomas may be about to have a new love in his life when he meets a lady called Carole, played by former Coronation Street actress Tracy Brabin.
Batley-born Tracy was last seen as a mum in supermarket ads for over a year, but she tells me: “I am so glad to be acting again, I have so missed it.”
Bradley Walsh is back in panto after almost seven years away. Now free of his ‘Law and Order UK’ TV show, the former comic tells me: “It’s a genre that I really miss. People enjoy it and so do I, plus the bonus is I am back in Milton Keynes, which is always so welcoming.”
Julian Fellowes has hinted there may be another death in Downton Abbey this year. Now though, the cast are all of a flutter, as they thought their jobs were safe, but now many are speculating when or who will be meeting a grizzly end next...
TV and radio host Graham Norton recently missed his Saturday morning radio show, claiming to be taken ill at the last minute. However BBC bosses were less than impressed to then find him pictured in the tabloids out and about the previous night at a party. Graham has offered his sincere apologies to his fans and the BBC so far...
He recently appeared in EastEnders and Birds of a Feather, but Matt Willis’ latest role looks a far cry from Albert Square and Chigwell. He was seen wielding a rifle while shooting (almost literally) new scenes for upcoming World War II drama ‘Allies’. He tells me: “I am over the moon with this role, as it’s a great challenge and far removed from my pop career.”
Former Coronation Street actress Wendi Peters, who played Cilla Brown in the show, is returning for a short stint after seven years away. The actress tells me: “I can’t wait to see what she has been up to and all that, but I am sure she will be bad news, as nothing ever goes right for Cilla in the end, does it?”
